The gas kettle barbecue

All parts of the barbecue (kettle, funnel and cooking grid) are porcelain-enamelled, making them a breeze to clean.

Cleaning is a breeze, all barbecue kettle parts are enamelled (kettle, funnel, cooking grid). Simply allow the grill to burn itself out a few minutes after use to burn off the residual grease drippings, which can then be easily removed with a brass bristle brush (do not use steel brushes).
Scrub the cooking grid and funnel with the brass bristle brush and then rub them with kitchen cloth. And hey, presto! You’re ready to barbecue again.

Use a cleaning sponge and hot, soapy water to remove all loose deposits from the grill/griddle and funnel. You can also use general oven cleaner found in most stores. Let it burn out and then clean it with a grill brush. You can also use general oven cleaner found in most stores.
IMPORTANT: After rinsing off the oven cleaner, dry the barbecue off completely by heating on , as most oven cleaners have a rather strong smell.

Regular care of your barbecue will help keep it operating properly. Inspect the gas supply parts at least twice a year and always after long periods of storage. Occasionally inspect and tighten all hardware as this may become loose if the barbecue is moved over rough or hard ground. To preserve the appearance of your barbecue and be able to enjoy using it for as long as possible we recommend that you treat all wooden parts once a year with a wood oil – this will help to prevent them from distorting or splitting.
To extend the life of your barbecue we recommend the additional protection of an OUTDOORCHEF cover.

Questions about OUTDOORCHEF gas kettle barbecues

What are the advantages of a kettle barbecue?
A kettle barbecue can be used with the lid either on or off. With the lid on, the hot air is pulled down along the sides of the kettle where it acts like a convention oven. When the air reaches the top of the kettle it can be regulated. Especially large pieces of meat, for example roast, duck, or turkey can be successfully cooked on a kettle barbecue.

What are the advantages of the OUTDOORCHEF funnel system?
Due to the ingenious world wide patented funnel system the unhygienic lava rocks which required regular replacement are no longer needed. The funnel channels the warm air circulation in the kettle and protects the gas burners. The result is no smoke or flare-ups and food is not charred or burnt. Most of the drippings vaporize and give the food the typical BBQ flavour. Any remaining drippings are collected in the drip pan.

Funnel positions – How do I set up the funnel to barbecue, bake or cook?

Barbecuing, slow cooking and baking in the correct funnel position (84.95 KB)

What should I do when the gas won’t ignite?
Make sure the cylinder valve of the gas cylinder is open. Make sure that there is enough gas in the cylinder. Check to see whether there is a spark from the electrode to the burner.

Why is there no spark?
Ensure that the battery is inserted properly.(grills with electric ignition). The distance between the burner and the electrode should be between 5-8 mm. Make sure the cables by the electronic ignition and the electrode are plugged in and fit tightly. Insert a new battery in the electric ignition (type AAA (LR03) 1.5 Volt). Minus pole (-) being inserted first.

What do I need to look out for when I use the barbecue for the first time after winter?
After storing the barbecue for a period of time and at least once during the barbecue season you should check the gas pipe for cracks, kinks or other damage. A damaged gas pipe must be replaced immediately. Check all parts that transport gas. Spiders and other insects can lead to blockages which need to be removed before use. Check to make sure that all screws are tight. Screws can become loose if the barbecue is moved along uneven surfaces.

What about smoke?
Due to the funnel system the burners are protected from drippings. This prevents smoke and flare-ups.
The gas kettle barbecues from OUTDOORCHEF are suitable for balconies, patios or gardens.
